Xander’s treasured journey beyond the hospital

After many months in hospital receiving treatment for liver disease and lymphoma, Xander was ready for a day that felt different.

Through the TLC Ambulance, he and his family were able to leave the hospital together and enjoy the city. Xander had one special request for the day: he wanted to ride up front.

With the TLC for Kids team and Ambulance Victoria paramedics supporting the outing, the family also enjoyed a virtual reality experience and lunch together.

The outing did not change Xander’s diagnosis, but it changed the feeling of the day. It gave the family laughter, conversation and a memory that belonged to them rather than the hospital.
